Berlin - Opernplatz

Probably the best known book burning took place on the square known in those days as "Opernplatz". On May 10, the National Socialists burned the books of more than 130 persecuted authors in a lavishly staged event. The leading actor was the German student body ( "Deutsche Studentenschaft" ).
